night while on pinterest (one of my new addictions) looking at the DIY section of homemade laundry soaps and household cleaners i stumbled across a blog this mom wrote of creative ideas for her kids. http://mommysavers.wordpress.com check it out, she's got lots of cute ideas! so anyway, found ice cream in a bag and of course matt said to hurry up and get my butt in the kitchen and make it. he had been craving ice cream the last few days, especially homemade. sooo it took all of about 5-10 minutes (much less than the hand crank ice cream maker we use during the summer and tastes pretty much the same) i think i remember doing this in school years and years ago when it was still ok to actually do fun things in the class instead of sit there and be zombies. but anyway...
what you'll need:
2 ziplock bags (the bigger the better)
sugar
flavoring of your choice
(i used butternut which is our secret family flavor, tastes like cake batter)
milk
ice
salt
to make 2 solo cups full like these here's that 'recipe'
4 cups milk
4T sugar (5 if you like it a littler sweeter)
2-3 tsp flavoring
pour all into one ziplock bag and place inside the other ziplock. cover with plenty of ice and salt, close and shake for at least 5+ minutes or until you can see the liquid sticking to the sides of the bag. when it starts to stick to the side of the bags then it's ready :) for a single serving cut the recipe to 1C milk, 1T sugar, 1tsp flavoring. i used 1tsp of flavoring in 4C because the butternut is a very strong flavoring.
